Our Level 4 Tutors
Our Level 4 Strength and Conditioning course is delivered by an exceptional team of tutors who bring a collective wealth of experience from across the S&C industry. Between them, they’ve coached athletes at every level – from grassroots to elite performance athlete – and have extensive backgrounds in sports science, education, and applied coaching. Their combined expertise ensures every learner gains real-world insights, practical skills, and the confidence to excel as a professional Level 4 Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Chris Duncan
Chris has a wealth of expertise in the Strength and Conditioning industry. He has been training, coaching, tutoring and assessing for 15 years now with the latter half of that geared more specifically around S&C. Although he has some experience with teams and Youth, he has worked mainly with individuals looking to progress within their sport; boxing, football, golf, squash and endurance athletes to name a few.
In his own words: “The best things about working with SCE is working with an experienced team all striving to provide the best level of support for the learners and each other. My best moments are meeting students face to face during the workshops and seeing an array of diverse backgrounds and experiences but all with the same enthusiasm to learn and do better for themselves and their clients.”
Tristan Baker
Tristan is a Loughborough University Sports Science graduate with an MSc in Strength and Conditioning. As well as being an accredited member of the UKSCA (UK Strength and Conditioning Association) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association., Tristan also heads up the athletic performance department at GoPerform.
Tristan has coached full time in professional football and in Formula 1 and now coaches national and international athletes competing in a range of sports including football, rugby, MMA, track and field and ice hockey.
Steph Morris
Steph has vast experience in Strength and Conditioning, she has a degree in Strength, Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage (SCRaM) and a Masters in Strength and Conditioning. Steph is an accredited Strength and Conditioning coach with the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) and Certified specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Steph specialises in youth S&C, coaching groups including Welsh Rowing, Welsh Kayak, and Cardiff Triathlon in the Youth Physical Development Centre, NIAC, Cardiff. Alongside all of this, Steph also works as Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning and is currently undertaking a PhD, investing the effects of growth and maturation on Weightlifting in paediatric populations.
Jared Deacon
Jared has been working with elite athletes in the Strength and Conditioning world for almost 20 years. Jared has a BSc, MSc, PGCE, Level 4 Athletics and ASCC qualifications in Strength and Conditioning and currently works for Scottish Rugby as lead for the Edinburgh Regional Academy programme and for the UKSCA as a tutor. Jared is a former international 400m athlete representing Great Britain for 10 years at Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth Games. He has previously worked for the English Institute of Sport and UK Athletics, coached track athletes to every major international. Jared has held conference talks for Scottish Athletics, Northern Ireland Athletics, Welsh Athletics, England Athletics, various postgraduate university programmes across the country as well as professional clubs and organisations.
Our Youth Tutor
Ryan Blake
Ryan Blake is our Youth Strength and Conditioning Association tutor. Ryan spent has spent his earlier life playing, competing & coaching school, county, national & international sport. He has spent his later life following a continued pathway & profession in performance. Graduating from the University of Portsmouth with an BSc in Sport Science & MSc in Sport Performance, he has since worked with British Tennis, England Badminton, England Cricket, British Cycling & Wakeboard UK supporting world champion athletes and Olympic medal winners.
Along his journey he has become an accredited member of the NSCA and UKSCA. Currently he is the Founder of Director of www.extremesportsperformance.com, Head of Sport Science at St Paul’s School and Youth Tutor for Strength & Conditioning Education.

Jordan Tyrer
With over a decade of experience supporting athletes across Premier League, Championship, League 1 & 2, the Women’s Super League/Championship, and the FA Women’s Talent Pathway, Jordan combines professional expertise with a personal drive to elevate performance, prevent injury, and enhance athletic potential for a diverse athlete base. He joins Strength & Conditioning Education to deliver a brand new NSCA accredited Strength and Conditioning for Football course.

Dr Rob Naughton
Dr Rob Naughton is the Head Nutritionist for the England Women’s Cricket Team, where he leads nutrition strategies to support elite performance and player well-being. In collaboration with our team at Strength & Conditioning Education, Rob has co-developed a comprehensive new course on Strength & Conditioning for Nutrition, designed to empower coaches with integrated approaches to nutritional development for athletes. Emma O’Toole
Emma O’Toole is a seasoned strength and conditioning coach and educator, specialising in endurance sports. As lead course tutor for Specialist Training course: S&C for Endurance – she empowers coaches to enhance performance and reduce injury risk in endurance athletes. Her journey began as an endurance athlete, representing Great Britain’s Age Group team in triathlon and competing for GB Masters in cycling – where repeated injuries led her to discover the transformative power of strength and conditioning. This experience inspired her to help others unlock their true potential.

John Hartley
John Hartley is a seasoned sports physiotherapist and educator specialising in the integration of rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. With over 25 years of experience in elite sports, including roles at Blackburn Rovers FC, Warrington Wolves, England Rugby League, Aston Villa FC, and Derby County FC, John brings a wealth of practical knowledge to his role as Lead Tutor for our Specialist Training course: Rehab and S&C.

Sam Portland
Sam Portland is the lead tutor for the upcoming S&C for Speed course and one of the UK’s most respected speed development coaches. With a BSc in Human Performance from Brunel University and an MSc in Strength & Conditioning from St Mary’s University, Sam combines deep academic knowledge with years of hands-on experience. After a rugby injury sparked his fascination with speed and movement, he developed his own “Sports Speed System” – a proven approach that bridges the gap between drills and real-game performance. Known for simplifying complex biomechanics and neurology into practical, coachable concepts, Sam’s teaching helps coaches truly understand and feel speed.
