We have gathered a line up of speakers who represent the very best in the world of strength and conditioning. From elite coaches to athletes these key speakers share our vision for sharing expert knowledge to further excellence in the industry.

OUR SPEAKERS

Brendan Chaplin 

As an entrepreneur Brendan is the founder of Strength and Conditioning Education, the UK’s leading provider of educational resources and mentoring for fitness and performance coaches.

As a coach Brendan has worked with many high performance athletes, teams and institutions including The English Institute of Sport, British Tennis, Huddersfield Giants, The Talented Athlete Sponsorship Scheme (TASS), Leeds Metropolitan University, England Netball, UFC and professional MMA Fighters, professional golfers, tennis players, cyclists, and many, many more in a career spanning 15 years.

Brendan has a Masters degree in Strength and Conditioning from Bolton University, is a master practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming, a Chartered Director through the Institute of Directors and a certified performance coach.

Dane Mitchell 

Dane Mitchell MSc ASCC is an accredited strength & conditioning coach based in Leeds, U.K. His current role is “Head strength & conditioning coach” at Leeds Beckett University.  

Dane currently coaches multiple Olympic medallists and finalists from the World, European and Commonwealth Games in the sports of Triathlon and Athletics.  

Mel Young 

Mel has been in the Fitness Industry for almost 20 years and has worked in big clubs all around the country as a Personal Trainer, Group Ex Instructor and a Fitness Manager.  From 2007 – 2016, Mel was also a Further Education Sports Lecturer delivering BTEC Level 3, Gym Instruction and Personal Training qualifications to students aged 16+ .

In 2015, Mel started her journey within Strength & Conditioning by completing the Strength & Conditioning Level 3 Mentorship Programme and later the Level 4 qualification.  

Mel’s brand Amazon24 Fitness developed programmes such as the Ladies Only Strength Programme, S&C programming (Youth and Adults); which welcomed many athletes including GB Judo, Football, K1 Kickboxing, Athletics, Para-Cycling, Para-Bobsleigh, Sitting Volleyball, Triathletes, Rugby, Netball and Swimming.  Mel is now the GB Men’s Sitting Volleyball Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Mel has worked at major events with her athletes including British Cycling Nationals at the Manchester Velodrome, Invictus Games in Sydney and the British Athletic Championships with Javelin.  

Ben Haining 

Ben has been working in Strength and Conditioning and elite sport since 2002. He is currently Head of Strength and Conditioning at Reed’s School (recently voted TES Sports School of the year) where he has led athletic development support for youth athletes in the UK across all sports since 2009. 

Prior to becoming a paediatric Strength and Conditioning specialist, Ben worked in professional cricket as Head of Strength and Conditioning at Sussex County Cricket Club from 2003-2007 including a stint as a consultant to the England U19 Cricket team for the junior World Cup in 2005. In 2008 he worked in British tennis for the LTA. Ben continued his association with top-flight cricket as a consultant to Surrey County Cricket Club from 2009 to 2011. 

From 2008 until 2013 Ben was part of the AMS team providing Strength and Conditioning guidance for WTA tour tennis player Elena Baltacha. Ben continues to provide consultancy support to professional athletes alongside his full-time work with young people. 

Sam Guy & Rob Smaldon

Rob and Sam are the co founders of Cornwall High Performance, a private company specialising in youth athlete development. They have been running their successful Child to Champion program for four years now and are currently working with over sixty youth athletes from a range of sports.

Tristan Baker 

Tristan heads up the athletic performance department at GoPerform, a sports injury and human performance centre in Reading. He is a Loughborough University Sports Science graduate with an MSc in Strength and Conditioning from St Mary’s University.  

Tristan spent 4 years with Reading Football Club as first team strength and conditioning coach before moving into Formula 1 for a season working as a performance coach with a rookie F1 driver. Tristan also has experience working with high performers in the corporate world having spent a year with PWC looking after the health and well-being of a selection of senior partners.  

Ste Gordon

Ste Gordon has been a dedicated kettlebell sport coach and athlete for over 8 years now. Competing at a whole host of national and international championships. Throughout the years Ste has travelled far and wide to spend time with various different coaches, learning different training systems and developing various athletes reach professional level along the way. As well as his success within the kettlebell sport world, he has also spent time working with a variety of sports from athletics, rugby union, boxing and many more. Ste currently runs a training facility dedicated to performance enhancement. Alongside this heads up the speed programme for Darlington Harriers and Athletics Club, is a mentor on the Elite Coach Mentorship and is currently developing a youth kettlebell sport pathway.    

Russel Jolley

Russell started coaching S&C while rowing for Durham University in 2007. In 2008 he moved to Bournemouth and started coaching the University Golf Team. In 2009 he became the full time S&C coach for Bournemouth Uni and coached 250 of their Varsity, TASS and Scholarship athletes each year. While doing that he set up the earliest version of TeamCC and opened his first gym in Poole in 2010. For 3 more years he worked for BU, ran TeamCC and completed his MSc in S&C from St Mary’s University. 

In 2013 he graduated and finished his role at BU to go full time with TeamCC. 

He spent the next 5 years building the business of S&C coaching for the public, filled the Poole gym, worked with many local sports clubs and consulted on S&C for the Special Forces. In 2019 he opened a 2nd gym in Bournemouth. 

Peter Sim

Peter Sim is currently first team Strength and Conditioning Coach at Yorkshire County Cricket Club. 

 Previously he was Lead Academy Strength and Conditioning coach at Newcastle Falcons Rugby

Just back from a excellent weekend in Leeds for the Youth S&C Coach course. The format, the delivery, the education and the ability to discuss and stop and ask questions at anytime made for an excellent environment to learn and reinforce skills and knowledge. Ross provided much more than what we expected a true gent who wants to see a better level of youth S&C here and now. I feel energised to go make even more impact in this area and I will be recommending this course to other coaches and I will be back for the specialist course soon. 👏👏
