So How are your Squats?
Here are a couple of short video tutorials on squats. They show the key exercises I utilise with many of the athletes I work with.
I talk at one point about tight hamstrings and using plates under your feet. I should say that using plates under your feet is basically providing you with extra ankle mobility and changes the mechanics of the lift slightly, meaning you’re generally able to get lower. However, it does place greater load through your quadriceps as opposed to your hips and lower back. It can be used as a solution to poor hip mobility, but not a cure! So work on your mobility wherever the issues lie (ankle, hip etc) independently using some of the movements shown here, and over time work to get rid of the plates.
