A formula you don’t want to forget!
This post is all about how to optimise your training with a simple, easy to remember formula which is:
Good programme + good coaching + good nutrition and lifestyle + motivation and support + good recovery = TOP Results
The thing is, how many of these areas have you got covered in your lifestyle? See I think many people are following a decent programme but maybe don’t have a coach. Perhaps some people train in a great environment, but unfortunately don’t have a good programme to follow. Others train smart and have good coaching but have crappy nutritional habits which significantly reduce the gains they can make.
There’s no doubt that if you tick all the above boxes you’re going to make pretty impressive gains with your training, right?
Here’s a goal for the day. Solve the above equation! What I mean by that is examine which areas you need to improve on, and take steps to make it happen! Identifying is the easy bit, changing is the hard part for most of us. Write down 3 things that you can improve on in the formula above, along with a target time frame. Writing down your goals means that you have a much greater chance of actually achieving these things.
But before you do it finish reading this post as you might want to include something in these goals!
With my own athletes I would say the hardest area to provide a good service is with their nutrition and lifestyle. As trainers we can do everything possible in the time we see our clients to make them better, but they still have another 20 or more hours a day to screw it up.
That’s why I am really enthused about the online programme launching this Saturday. As well as programme design, online coaching, support through myself and the team of expert trainers I have lined up, and the critique your technique feature, which alone I believe makes this product pretty awesome, there will also be a nutritional coaching lesson of the month along with easily applicable tips to help you in your every day training.
I studied nutrition at university and have continued to study it through my own reading and going through the Precision Nutrition certification programme with John Berardi. Berardi’s work has influenced my own nutritional coaching interventions significantly, in fact I think he has really changed the way S&C coaches look at the approach to nutrition. Its as much about coaching as strength training! And that is the approach I have taken with the online programme.
It’s not about giving you guys all the information up front and letting you go off and do it on your own. On the contrary it’s about coaching which is always progressive. Get the basics right, then move on and make small changes, week by week, month by month.
This is what gets results, and that’s what you will get with the online programme launching this Saturday.
Lets go back to the goal setting task from earlier in the post! Think about the formula and what you need to do to improve. Get those 3 points in your head and write them down.
Consider including the following: ‘sign up for the programme on Saturday!’ As it is designed to tick all those boxes for you.
I should also say that the first 200 people to sign up will receive a significant discount on the monthly and annual price so make sure your up early to sign up on Saturday morning!
That’s all for today,
