Get qualified in Strength and Conditioning! 3 Day ACCELERATED COURSE FEB 2014….
We’ve run 3 of the 3 Day Accelerated Development courses this last year and have had over 80 people in total go through the course.
The next course runs from January 31st to Feb 2nd 2014. That’s Friday to Sunday.
It’s a fantastic 3 days and you are then registered for the Level 3 Strength and Conditioning Coaching Course through 1st 4 Sport.
The fact that you are getting a nationally recognised qualification in S&C to me is actually secondary to the learning that you’ll go through on the course itself.
My goal when I set this course up was to bring together the best practitioners at their chosen disciplines.
I think that’s what I did and the presenters/coaches that are delivering are first rate (and then there’s me too of course :)!!
Here’s who you’ll be learning from:
Ian Pyper- GB Boxing Lead S&C London 2012, GB Triathlon Performance Scientist London 2012 to current date.
Tamas Feher- GB Olympic Weightlifting Head Coach.
Jared Deacon- Speed and plyometrics coach and former olympian in 400m.
Tom Whittaker- GB Weightlifting and Powerlifting.
And myself as always!!
You’ll be learning the methods that elite coaches are using with their athletes EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Every time we run this course it gets better. I’ve tweaked the delivery of my sessions for the last one and I’ve got some changes in store for this one too.
Learn by doing is the mantra for the weekend. You’ll be dong it all and coming away a BETTER COACH.
The course is available at the early bird price of £559 then it increases to £659.
We have SOLD OUT the past courses and this one will be no different.

Here’s a full list of the modules and the info that you’ll learn.
SCREENING AND ASSESSMENT THOERY AND PRACTICAL: This module will cover movement screening to identify potential injury risks and areas of imbalance which is essential learning in the initial stages of beginning your training programmes with your athletes, and performance testing, which is also a key ingredient in any performance programme.
CORRECTIVE EXERCISE PROGRESSIONS: Continuing on the theme of the screening module this practical session will show you how to implement corrective exercise protocols and most importantly the exact progressions and regressions used to reduce injuries in elite athletes will be shown and coached to you in detail.
GYM BASED STRENGTH, POWER AND HYPERTROPHY TRAINING: This practical session will go through many of the progressions that are used in strength and conditioning programmes with a specific focus on getting the basics right and the finer details of the fundamental movements. This is essential to give you that IN DEPTH understanding on the key lifts and their use in achieving programme goals as well as solutions to the common issues people face with these movements.
SPEED TRAINING AND PLYOMETRICS: This module will be lead by commonwealth 400m gold medallist Jared Deacon. Jared is the lead S&C coach for the English Institute of Sport Midlands Region and works with elite athletes on a daily basis. He will be going through the fundamentals of speed development including key drills to improve your speed and running technique. In the plyometrics section Jared will outline his model for plyometric training and will coach you through all the key exercises.
OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING PRACTICAL: This module will be lead by Giles Greenwood, Olympian, and multiple Commonwealth medallist in Olympic Weightlifting with a record 180kg Snatch. His coaching is no nonsense, results based and this practical session will give you an excellent understanding of the lifts and how to coach them to your athletes.
CORE TRAINING THEORY AND PRACTICAL: In this section of the programme you will go through many of the progressions that are used in our athletes programmes on a daily basis as well as new and innovative methods to train the core. You’ll also learn the why’s of what your doing, meaning that you can create and develop exercises and pressions yourself in the future.
PROGRAMME DESIGN AND PERIODISATION: This is a key section which shows you how to plan your athletes/clients programmes on a short. medium, and long term basis. Session design for gym based strength and power type sessions, movement and speed sessions, endurance and conditioning sessions will be included in this as well as tying this all together in your overall performance programme.
You will be able to programme for your athletes from Monday morning using this simple model of programme development.
MOVEMENT AND AGILITY TRAINING: This module takes the information from the speed practical and applies it to multi-directional sports and athletes. You will see how movement training is a key area for any strength and conditioning coach to emphasise and really helps to transfer the work done in the gym to the sporting arena. You will come away with a great understanding of how to put together your movement training programme, how to coach movement and agility drills and the key points for all the exercises, as well as progressions to keep your athletes challenged and improving over time.
ENERGY SYSTEM TRAINING AND CONDITIONING: We all need our athletes to be fit and conditioned for the sport and activities they perform. To do this, a good understanding of energy system development and conditioning is required. This section of the programme covers energy system training theory in depth and gives you the tools to design your energy system development programmes for all sports.
FUNDAMENTALS OF QUALITY COACHING: Although this theme is running throughout the entire 3 days, the conclusion to the three days brings together all elements and looks at the fundamentals of coaching, which really is the way to get results in your athletes and clients. You will leave with the confidence to start training and coaching your athletes to a much higher level, with all the tools in the box to do so, and a fresh approach to performance training too.
