Strength and Fitness TV Episode 16: Power for Boxing
In todays clip I have Ashley Vanzie, future boxing champion doing his power circuit. Look out for him in the future no question.
I thought I’d show this as an example of getting it done.
Is this exclusive to boxing? Course not. I’ve used these exercises with many different sports, not just combat sports either.
It’s a great 4 exercise circuit emphasising total body power development, specific power, and learning.
This was the first session Ashley had done ANY of these exercises.
I like to have this type of work in my sessions with combat athletes for a number of reasons.
1. They need power. Thats a given.
2. The format means that it creates great buy-in from the athlete. It’s relatable to the sport.
3. It’s a very good primer for the loaded power and strength work that follows.
4. It builds some work capacity.
