Last week I talked about the ‘Real’ P’s of performance. One of these was perspective.
Our clients and athletes all have lives outside the gym, as coaches we have to remember that stress is stress and our job is to prepare for stress not simply add to it.
Every now and again something happens that brings perspective to the forefront.
On Sunday Elena Baltacha passed away after battling liver cancer. A truly sad day.
Having worked for British Tennis 6 years ago when Bally was really pushing forwards I remember seeing her training in the gym in Roehampton.
My close friend and colleague at the time Ben Haining was her S&C coach. A very close relationship and friendship was built. And a really tough time for all friends and family involved.
What do we have without our health?
The time we have outside the gym spend it wisely.
Let’s think about the bigger picture when planning our programmes. Not just the session in front of us, the week or the month.
Let’s keep our training, our coaching, our role, in perspective.
This week focus on what matters the most around you.
