I’m Turning into a Yorkshireman!
It’s been a whirlwind week!
The highs and lows of the Rugby (dependent upon who you support), and tons of other sport with its usual twists and turns.
I was at LIW in Birmingham on Tuesday and Wednesday to run a power session with Jordan Fitness – really enjoyed it, so big thanks to them and Mark Laws on a fantastic stand with a great variety of interesting workshops.
I was there with Jamie McEvoy from S&C Education, so we also did a bit of networking and catching up with lots of different people, including some former GB athletes from track and field I’d not seen for a while, the guys from Primal Gym and Ste from Tu Nova. Jamie had a quick chat with David Haye, who seemed keen on a fight with Anthony Joshua – I think that would have the makings of a great showdown!
I’m definitely turning into a Yorkshireman, I almost passed out at the till of the canteen when charged £9.75 for my salmon pasta salad!
Its been a busy few weeks with Brendan away and we are now in the final stages of planning for a few new exciting ventures that are going to really help aspiring coaches going forward.
We have our Strength, Power and Athleticism workshop taking place in Sheffield on 3rd & 4th October, which will cover all things gym based, with Brendan Chaplin and Dave Hembrough throwing everything and the kitchen sink at you in this one!
This workshop went down a storm when run before and I’d been keen for us to put more of these on across the UK. There are some great options out there when it comes to learning Olympic lifting, but all the go to gym based exercises that get results are often overlooked, when it comes to knowing how to coach them very well.
I did a PT L3 course a good few years back, like many of us do, and I remember, despite my qualification being with the most well regarded provider, the coaching cues and info provided was purely enough to stop people killing themselves, rather than getting a great transfer of training.
I think these workshops will really raise the standard in the industry, helping coaches and trainers to help their clients and athletes get better results.
It’s a full jam packed two day event and we have a limited number of places remaining, as we miscounted how many attendees were signed up, so haven’t been advertising it!
So, if you are free next weekend and want to learn direct from all of Brendan and Dave’s top experience, grab a place right now!
Have a great week – we’ll let you know over the next week a bit more about the other workshops and events soon to hit!
